Random

so i recently got my hands on issue #5 of highsnobiety’s print magazine. i had a chance to work on a feature in this mag shooting dogs wearing Canada Goose inspired jackets… super random, right? haha i’m stoked though, as this arctic themed mag was distributed throughout Berlin and given out at all of the Berlin Fashion Week tradeshows. it’s also sold at finer retailers across europe and north america, including places like colette in paris! once i had my hands on this and flipped through some of the pages, i found that it was a mad beautiful magazine and i’m super honored to have be apart of this to say the least. here’s a preview of the mag!

the cover features Pharrell Williams, who’s later interviewed by petebeast in regards to what he’s working on in the fashion world.

at first i was like, dammmnnn… “they sent this mother fucker and a team to the artic to shoot this shit!” but then i saw this video and found it they just shot him in a studio and superimposed him there. still pretty rad though to have everyone’s favourite little skateboard p on the cover. the images still look absolutely incredible, and as mentioned earlier, they definitely had me fooled!

Mark McNairy
is everywhere these days. i see him pop up in every lifestyle mag i pick up these days. he’s working on a few things with Pharrell, including revamping BBC and he’s got what seemed like 4/5 different other lines going on. McNairy also answered all his questions in CAPS and kept things short, blunt and sweet, true to his twitter self. rad interview pedro!

kitsune had a feature. everything about this girl in this feature was absolutely incredible.

my favourite photography in this mag came from Frankfurt photographer, Yves Borgwardt.

Scott’s Last Expedition is a feature of Nigel Cabourn’s Limited Edition Collection #2 for Fall/Winter 2012. it’s totally inspired by the “Terra Nove” expedition to the South Pole lead by Robert Falcon Scott in 1912. apparently Scott and his team set out in 1910 to reach the south pole. it took them 2 years to do so and by the time they got there, they found that Norwegian Roald Amundsen had already claimed the ground, 33 days prior. on the return trip, the entire group just died along the way from starvation, exhaustion and the extreme cold. a pretty tragic story to say the least, but this line was created to celebrate the incredible achievements regardless, and to celebrate the positive aspects of the ill-fated journey. anyhow here’s some more of yves incredible photography for the feature:

so after checking out a few amazing features in this mag, then came the good ol’ canada pooch feature shot by yours truly, and reported on by miss katherine rousseau.

i can honestly say that this was one of my more frustrating shoots! these doggies straight up did not listen at all! the photos that you see here are shot split seconds before they would veer off chasing another dog or whatever they could have found in the studio. haha even though it was fairly frustrating at times, we got to play with a couple different dogs for a few hours and it got made into a pretty sweet little feature, so i can’t complain at all! haha in the end, we got 6 pages out of this and the layout for it was absolutely incredible!

here are a couple other pooch flicks that didn’t quite make the feature:

i’d like to thank pedro williams and kazzerine rousseau for hooking up this opportunity, and robert wunsch for throwing it into the mag. glad i could help contribute alongside all the amazing european photogs that were apart of this magazine! definitely looking forward to any future work with these guys!
